King Soopers

When I first moved to Colorado Springs at the age of 12, I misread the name of this grocery store as "King Scoopers". :) It has taken me a long time to correct that mental error!

As an adult, I've come to love this store, quirky name and all.  King Soopers has great prices on good quality food--even their own name brand stuff is usually excellent.  I AM picky, so I do read my labels for ingredients I find unappealing (read: high fructose corn syrup. BLECK!).

My foremost reasons for recommending this store, even though it belongs to a nationwide family, are its commitment to selling "Colorado Proud" products.  I want to support growers and producers of goods in our own city and state, and thus I appreciate King Soopers' commitment to distributing these goods--and at reasonable prices.

I know that when I purchase produce from Colorado farmers, I'm helping those families keep their farms going.    And if it comes down to it, I'd rather pay a bit more for a fresh, local product than an "old" one shipped in from another state!

Colorado produces many delicious types of produce, from Rocky Ford melons to Palisade peaches, and all kinds of delicious apples!  Learn where your produce comes from--buy local. :)

Often times, the prices of local products are at least comparable to those of other brands, and in some cases, they are even lower--the Colorado Proud milk I purchase is a good example of this!

King Soopers also carries other awesome "Colorado Proud" products, such as Ambrosia honey from the western slope.....

...Izze Sodas, from Boulder...

...Trail mixes and snacks produced in Denver, named for popular Colorado destinations...

...and SO much more! Just look for the "Colorado Proud" label! :)
